Flipy Board: At the end of WWE SmackDown, Karrion Kross attacked Drew McIntyre before Scarlett set an hourglass timer, indicating that Roman Reigns' days as WWE champion are numbered. This follows reports that Kross may be returning to WWE.

Kross was last seen in WWE during an embarrassing run in which the previously undefeated former NXT champion lost to both Jeff Hardy and Keith Lee, both of whom have since been released by WWE. Kross joined them in November 2021, during a wave of mass releases. Kross returned during the main event of SmackDown with a full head of hair and no helmet in sight and now finds himself in the middle of the elusive world title picture.

The WWE Women's Tag Team Championships are on their way back to WWE, thanks to rumors of Sasha Banks and Naomi returning to the company. Banks recently backed out of a celebrity flag football game, fueling speculation about a WWE reunion with Sasha and Naomi. Due to creative differences, Banks and Naomi left WWE during a Raw broadcast.

Michel Cole announced a women's tag team tournament for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships on Friday's SmackDown, which will begin this Monday on WWE Raw. This comes more than two months after WWE announced a women's tag team tournament the week after Sasha and Naomi's departure.

WWE SmackDown promoted a match between Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre, who will compete for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on September 3 at Clash at the Castle. SmackDown also promoted a rematch between Shinsuke Nakamura and Ludwig Kaiser, as well as a Gauntlet Match to determine who would face Liv Morgan at WWE Clash at the Castle.

Happy Corbin is defeated by Ricochet.

Even though WWE is entering a new era, the first five minutes of this broadcast were devoted to Happy Corbin's balls.

Even though Pat McAfee was the most over man in this segment, with "McAfee" chants, WWE put over Ricochet. The spotlight was returned to McAfee, who punted a bomb into the heart of South Carolina.

Ricochet's victory in this match is more evidence from Triple H that this is a new regime willing to push lesser-known talent. Triple H is gradually but steadily eroding AEW's hardcore wrestling appeal.

Ludwig Kaiser is defeated by Shinsuke Nakamura.

This match was done to set up a title match between Shinsuke Nakamura and Gunther, but WWE has done more to promote Gunther vs. Ludwig Kaiser.

Shinsuke Nakamura has only a 50/50 chance of winning the Intercontinental Championship.

Liv Morgan was booed after defeating Ronda Rousey.

Michael Cole stated that Liv Morgan was the first woman in WWE history to defeat Ronda Rousey twice.

Liv Morgan was booed for tapping out and had to fight off chants of "you tapped out." She went so far as to say, "I appreciate you calling me out on my shit."

I thought this feud would pit Ronda Rousey as a heel against an underdog like Liv Morgan (which it did), but WWE appears to be using this angle to make fans sympathize with Ronda.

Sonya Deville attempted to rally fans behind Liv Morgan, but all she got were "what" chants.

Following the booing of Liv Morgan, WWE immediately went into damage control on commentary, with McAfee and Cole suggesting that fans were jealous of Liv Morgan's success. Fans must have overheard and immediately began chanting for Liv Morgan.

Nothing has changed for Aliyah, who wrestled a quick match and was defeated by Sonya Deville.

Raquel Rodriguez was the story of this match for the majority of the time. WWE defended Rodriguez four times in a row.
